146. Dua When Wearing Clothes

اَلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي كَسَانِيْ هَذَا الثَّوْبَ وَرَزَقَنِيْهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ حَوْلٍ مِنِّيْ وَلَا قُوَّةٍ

اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ الَّذِيْ كَسَانِيْ هَذَا الثَّوْبَ وَرَزَقَنِيْهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ حَوْلٍ مِّنِّيْ وَلَا قُوَّةٍ

Alhamdu lillaahil-ladhee kasaanee haadhaa aththawba wa razaqaneehi min ghayri hawlim-minnee wa laa quwwah

Translation

All Praise is for Allah who has clothed me with this garment and provided it for me, with no power nor might from myself.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "If anyone says this while wearing clothes, his previous sins will be forgiven."

147. Dua for Wearing New Clothes

اَللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ أَنْتَ كَسَوْتَنِيْهِ أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَهُ وَخَيْرَ مَا صُنِعَ لَهُ وَأَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهِ وَشَرِّ مَا صُنِعَ لَهُ

اَللّٰهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ اَنْتَ كَسَوْتَنِيْهِ اَسْاَلُكَ خَيْرَهٗ وَخَيْرَ مَا صُنِعَ لَهٗ وَاَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهٖ وَشَرِّ مَا صُنِعَ لَهٗ

Allaahumma lakal-hamdu 'Anta kasawtaneehi, 'as'aluka khayrahu wa khayra maa suni'a lahu, wa 'a'oodhu bika min sharrihi wa sharri ma suni'a lahu

Translation

O Allah, for You is all praise, You have clothed me with it, I ask You for the good of it and the good for which it was made, and I seek refuge with You from the evil of it and the evil for which it was made.

148. Dua for Someone Wearing New Clothes

تُبْلَی وَيُخْلِفُ اللَّهُ تَعَالَی

تُبْلٰی وَيُخْلِفُ اللّٰهُ تَعَالٰی

Tubla- wa yukhliful-laahu ta'aalaa

Translation

May you wear it out and Allah (Ta'aala) replace it [with another].

The Companions used to make this dua when they saw someone wearing new clothes.
