What is cut from an animal when it is still alive
Sunan Ibn Majah
حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ كَاسِبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْنُ بْنُ عِيسَى، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ قَالَ " مَا قُطِعَ مِنَ الْبَهِيمَةِ وَهِيَ حَيَّةٌ فَمَا قُطِعَ مِنْهَا فَهُوَ مَيْتَةٌ " .
It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Whatever is cut from an animal hen it is still alive, what is cut from it is Maitah (dead meat).”
