The origin of the 1st Kalima (kalma tayyab):
The origin of the first kalima can be traced back to this hadith:
Ibn 'Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "(The superstructure of) Islam is based on five (pillars), testifying the fact that La ilaha illallah wa anna Muhammad-ar-Rasul-ullah [there is no true god except Allah, and Muhammad ((ﷺ)) is the Messenger of Allah], establishing As- Salat (the prayers), paying Zakat (poor due), the pilgrimage to the House [of Allah (Ka'bah)], and the Saum (fasting) during the month of Ramadan."
Ideal Times for Reciting the First Kalima (Tayyab)
Reciting the Six Kalimas everyday gives spiritual benefits and enhance Imaan. Make them part of your daily prayer, particularly after Salah, so you remain connected to Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) and protecting your Imaan. Here some of the ideal times for reciting each Kalima:
- 1
After Obligatory Prayers (Fard Salah):
When recited after every Salah, it enhances trust in Allah’s oneness and increases Imaan
- 2
Morning and Evening (Daily Adhkar):
Reciting the Kalima in the morning after waking up and in the evening sets a positive, faith-driven tone for the day and peaceful closure for the night.
- 3
Before Going to Sleep:
Reciting the Kalima before falling asleep ensures that your last words and thoughts for the day are focused on your faith and the oneness of Allah.
- 4
At the Time of Death (The Ultimate Ideal Time):
While we do not know when our time will come, the most crucial moment to recite the Kalima is at the end of one's life. The Prophet (PBUH) said: "He whose last words are 'La ilaha illallah' will enter Paradise." (Sunan Abu Dawud). Repeating it frequently in daily life makes it easier for the tongue to say it at the time of death.
